Hello to all
some of you will have heard by now….but we need to let you all know now that after due process and final voting last week, the Wow charity and services will close on August 16th. After 18 years, its sad…but I was able to be at the Launch of Pride without Predjudice Art show last night, and meet Becky and friends of WoW who’ve put together a lovely display of talent, history (old newsletters etc) and of course Rosie, our very own original piece of well-travelled art work….The banner!
The “Pride without Prejudice” exhibition is on til August 2nd.
For me, I feel very proud of every woman who has come to wow (or visited us online or via email,phone etc) and shared in the vision that is friendship, support and being our whole selves in some sort of community, as best we can. During times back in the 90’s when it was often too damaging to risk being out, and many were very isolated…..and more recent times when we can hopefully hand on something more positive to our young women…..we’ve really needed each other’s support and kindness, and, I think, still do.
So, its a marvelous way to remember WoW and the women who began it, continued it,and been part of wow and what it has been for so long. And acknowledge some of the artists among us!!
If you go to Norwich Pride website, there’s more details, and of all the events leading up to Saturday, Norwich Pride Day itself……we’ll probably have the little banner up in the park 12-2pm, having a picnic before parade……and also, the Norfolk LGBT Project will be there in Chapelfield, with info on its own new group for women launching end August. All details from their stall….and we’ll probably put ourselves somewhere nearby , so we can all catch up over lunch and say hi.
So if you’d like to, please join us!

The phone line will also close then, and Jo will keep the blog and mailing list going, and facebook page, until certainly the end of the year, referring all new enquiries to Norfolk LGBT’s New Group. I’ll also finalise all things formal and legal with the charity comminsion etc. after a break…. and the commitee member’s duties will then be complete.

Thank you JoJo , you especially have been instrumental in keeping me and my children sane when I first came out many years ago, the WoW organisation and it’s many events ,help line, volunteers has also been a significant factor and influence in my life . Quite simple Thank you x

Coming to WoW helped me feel comfortable about being myself and I have also made some good friends.
